Following on from the “give it a go” theme we are promoting at Ghetto Garage this month, here is a little guard work on big mikes Z31.
Frequent viewers will know after some new suspension mods Mona is suffering from a bad case of china rims, as they are the only wheels that will fit. Big Mikes job requires him to be on the other side of the country this week, so he contacted me and asked if I knew how to get his 10 inch wheels to fit. I said not really, but I’ll give it a go. To be honest it scared me a bit to think about hacking out steel from someone elses car… especially the Z, as it is a very beautiful machine. On the other hand, I feel that it’s important for us to push our boundaries and give things a crack, especially the things that scare us… Be careful though as you might learn something!
I knew I had the skills and know-how, it was just a matter of getting out there and doing it. I’ll let the pics tell the rest of the story:
Ghetto Garage fact: South Australia is the only place where a Farmers Union Iced Coffee is the standard of measurement, rather than a coke can
Back on the ground, should be enough clearance methinks
Still a bit more to do to finish it off, then onto the other one
If you have an idea or need something done on your whip, get out there and get stuck into it. If you’re unsure ask some mates to give you a hand.
Stay tuned next week as we finish off the guards.
