soooo I went to tassie! and it was RAD
each year a dedicated group of lads over at http://www.hachiroku.com.au organise an event for all of Australia’s ae86 owners. It normally consists of a track day, late night shenanigans, bbq and as as much spirited driving as you can poke a con rod at .
This year was a differant sorry, they decided to hold it in a whole other country… Tasmania!!!
It is fairly close to australia so we are able to catch a ferry over…
we wernt able to have a track day but instead just enjoyed the roads Tassie has to offer.
To be honest when I heard about this trip it is half the reason i started looking for another AE86, and i ended up buying the coupe
unfortunately I was unable to get on the booked ferry… while being very disappointed the boys on HR talked me into catching a plan over and just running shot gun for the lolz. So i did, and im glad i did!!!
It was a great week end and I made lots of new friends
Its the cool culture of these short wheel base little contraptions that really make them that little bit more enjoyable
more to come about the annual so dont change that dial
Timmy.D
big doller builds can be awesome
I also enjoy watching people (especially other ghetto members…) splash out cash and buy cool flashy parts and do extensive mods on cars. Its great we spend allot of our hard saved up money on the passion we love
but sometimes its nice to get gains from spending not much at all
Young friend of mine Luke messaged me and was wondering if there was any mods he can do to his daily. Its a suby imprezza with a 1.6 boxer motor, its also FWD, its his first car and he is enjoying playing with it
“Tim its painfully slow and wont even drive up hills!!!”
I knew of a small trick or two that could help him out, I previously owned a suby imprezza and i had put a cold air intake on it and from the Bum dyno test i knew it would make the car perform just a touch better
So luke brought the FWD weapon into the R&D Lab for a custom pvc cold air intake
we also removed the mesh out of the AFM
this is where the good bit is, we tripped down to our local harware store and bought $29.70 worth of pvc fittings and bends
small bit a perspex i had lying around to encourage as much air as possible into the 2.5 inch hole
quick spray
nobody would know
we spent little money,it dident take long and luke mentioned
“i never knew changing the intake on a car would make so much differnace”
I think the lesson its self was worth it
it was basic and effective
not everything to do with cars is expensive
if you have your first car and want to start playing around dont think you have to go out spend loads of money just have a crack!
if your interested in a bit of tech behind why this worked suss out the link. Its the reason i first did my suby all thoses years ago. good site! make sure you read all 5
